#5 - Anniversary

The part of me that feels like I've known her forever, and the part of me that feels like my life has just begun. We'll turn one year into 60 before you can say "Blueberry Pie".

3

Drinking an icy cold carbonated beverage when I'm overheated...feeling it pour down over my lungs and heart, chilling my blood and pumping it through my entire body, cooling me down. So refreshing.

Late Night TV

Lounging on the couch together watching Flip That House and laughing at some people's idiocy and bad taste, scrolling through our DVR and having a marathon of episodes of every show we like until late at night... when she dozes off with her head in my lap, and I stroke her hair and kiss her forehead and tell her how much I love her...and she pretends she's sound asleep. And I pretend I can't see the little smile that just appeared on her lips.

Don Henley's Boys of Summer

Every time I hear it, I am immediately taken back to February of 2006... driving with my future husband down winding canyon roads in Malibu - the windows down and the night air rushing in, as he sang at the top of his lungs. Looking at him, so happy and carefree, that last little wall protecting my heart crumbled away. I suddenly knew that no matter what might happen in the future, I needed this man beside me for the rest of my life. My heart was his forever, for better or worse. I've never told anyone about it, this moment that I just knew.

Something so small, a memory, a song... but no matter when I hear it, I smile.
